Jemima Abu

front end developer

I'm a self-taught Front End Developer and school-taught Systems Engineer from Lagos, Nigeria, with about three years of experience building websites.

I am an avid advocate of intersectionality in the tech space and accessibility in web development.

I'm actively involved in the tech community and I like to speak at conferences.

I write soft skill articles based on things I've learned over the course of my career.

In my spare time, I like to read manga, watch slice-of-life anime and Bollywood romcoms and hang around the internet.

Some sites I've built:

UNILAG Consult Cyber Camp

I designed and built the University of Lagos Consult Cyber Camp website in a matter of days. It was a speedy project that I worked on with a team of one other person.
The inspiration behind the design was something along the lines of: provide as much information as possible and be easy to navigate.

Socks Knocked Off

I built this site mainly to prove a point. Someone had cast aspersions on my web design skills and I was all "I'll show you! I'm going to build a site that'll knock your socks off ". Hence the name.
I was quite proud of it, at the time.

Hobbyist

This was something I built for fun and also because I wanted to learn how to work with databases and frameworks.
It has a simple login page that can handle authentication and it was built on the Flask framework.

Minimalism Is Art

This was another for-fun project. I built this cause I was like "Oh minimalism is so cute, I want to build something like that." And so I did.

Portfolio V1.0

This was the very first site I built and also the original version of my portfolio site. I started building it 3 months after learning how to write HTML and CSS and it took me about 6 months to finish.

Portfolio V2.0

This is the second version of my portfolio site. I built this after getting my first developer job, a year after I started learning how to code. It took me a month to finish (and this current version took me a day. Yay for growth).
